I’m convinced that for many of us there is an unspoken barrier that is holding us back from trying or developing new things. It’s a barrier that we have been building throughout our lives. This barrier isn’t made of stone, wood, or barbed wire but rather of self-protection, fear of failure, collected misadventures, comparisons, and doubt.
We have come to live life in a constant state of pre-flection, always analysing and deciding what might happen if we were to act, instead of actually acting.
The good news is that these barriers can be broken down when we step into an environment that is focused on building courage and giving permission. The way through this barrier is together. When we take the power of this self-imposed barrier away and give each other permission to try and the courage to step out, all of a sudden all things are possible.
We must never forget that God is in the business of new things and he is not disappointed with what we see as failure. Rather He celebrates us and desires for us to join him. He asks us to follow him into these new things. Maybe the idea that is living within you is actually from God. Maybe He is preparing a new way. Maybe He is giving you permission to be courageous.
“Forget the past- it’s getting in your way. Your eyes are fixed on the past, and you can’t see what I am doing today. Do you not know that I am the Lord your God, that I am always doing a new thing. Do you not perceive it? Will you not follow me into it? Can you not imagine with me a path through the wilderness? - Isaiah 43:18-19
At Project Nexus we are committed to building an environment and a culture where leaders are given permission to break through this barrier. Together we will act and we will learn. Together we can have the courage to bring new ideas into practice. As we sit with each other and God, seeking what new things He is doing and stepping beyond the barrier and joining Him in creating the new, together.
