Forget skills. Just do it, and collect the skills you need on the way.
Don't misunderstand, Project Nexus believes developing skills is fundamental. Especially in innovation, faith and culture. However, skills can get in the way if you prioritise them over actually giving something a go. Add to that the reality that, it is hard to know what skills you need until you give something a go.
I coached my son’s under 9 soccer team. They loved playing soccer. Watching them play revealed that they needed skills. But did I say, 'let’s abandon the season and just learn skills this year?' No. We played, had fun, and learnt skills as we went.
Bottom line: Don’t let skills get in the way of starting a new idea. You might find you already have the skills, or you are only missing a part of a skill. Or, a friend, who already has the skills, can help you out while you learn. Or, it is better for you to focus on another area while you recruit someone who has those skills.
Yes, learn skills. Yes, develop as a leader. Of course skills are important. But they are not as important as having an idea and chasing after it. A lack of skills won’t stop you. You will fail at times even with skills. Taking risks will always be challenging.
But a lack of "giving it a go" will kill more ideas than a lack of skills will ever do.
