It happened again this morning.
I have been praying about a speaking opportunity that was presented to me. I asked God to show me if it was an opportunity He’s in. If He had anything for ME to say in this particular context.
And then this morning, with my journal open and my pen in my hand, when this thought wasn’t anywhere close to my mind, God spoke.
He filled my mind and my page with words, and I knew exactly where they belonged.
I can’t tell you how often this happens to me.
In moments of stillness–often in the early hours of the morning, in moments of prayer, in moments of communion with the one who made me. Clarity comes. Inspiration comes. Direction comes.
Sometimes, productivity paradoxically looks like stillness.
It looks like making room before you’re able to meaningfully fill it–making room for your mind to wander and wonder, for imagining, for listening, for feeling, for creating.
Sometimes, we must create room before creating anything else.
We are full. Full of experiences. Full of thoughts.
Full of conviction and passion and Spirit.
But this fullness does not always express itself without being given the necessary space it needs to inhabit.
Whether this is the first or five-hundredth time you’ve heard this, hear it again. And remember. Because it’s easy to forget. And impossible to replace.
Be still.
And see where it leads.
